Blowing Out EggsThis is a wonderful craft you can do together with your kids for Easter. To create decorated eggs that last for years, use real eggs and blow out the inside of the egg. By blowing out the inside of the egg, you leave just the delicate shell. This is a wonderful family tradition to start and share together. Your family's collection of decorated eggs can be displayed and showcase the various decorating styles and provide wonderful memories as your child's decorating skills become progressively more elaborate year after year. Supplies you'll needRaw eggsCrocheting or darning needle Small bowl Kleenex or paper towels 1. Set up your workspace, with eggs, a plastic bowl large enough to collect the egg contents and a safe drying area. 2. Hold the egg over the bowl with one hand and, using the needle, gently begin poking a hole in each end. One hole should be slightly larger than the other. 3. Stick the needle into the larger hole and swirl it around. You are trying to pierce the yolk so it will easily fit through the hole. 4. Position the egg with the large hole pointing down towards the bowl. Put your mouth close to the other hole and blow to force the contents through the large hole. Repeat for all of the eggs. 5. Take the eggs to sink and carefully rinse out the eggs under gently running water. Swirl the water all around the inside. You can also draw a soapy bath and dunk the eggs underwater for a few minutes. 6. Position the eggs on paper towels so water can drain out through the holes and let them dry. 7. Once dry, the eggs are ready for decorating. You can add a small drop of glue around the holes to strengthen the ends and keep any cracks from spreading. |
